11 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Very novel novel By Amazon Customer Don't read this unless you :1. Enjoy cats (preferably to the point of admiring them);2. Can suspend disbelief (like I had to do with the first book);3. Feel like bad guys really should pay for their crimes; and4. The good guys deserve a little happiness; and finally5. You don't mind staying up too late to find out what happens next.My wife and I thouroughly enjoyed the first book when it came out (I would've given it 4.25 stars) and looked forward to this one as well. The novelty was a wee bit thinner this time because it is a sequel, but it's good to curl up with a favorite cat - er, character, like in this story - ya-know-what-I-mean? If you're thinking about reading this, buy the two books together and do it right.I originally read the local press release and thought, "well, I'll just encourage this guy - he's done good things for PBS and I'm filthy rich anyway (I think I had just come back from South America, but never mind), so I'll buy his book." I did and really enjoyed it. Although this is 1/4 star less cool, I'm glad I read it because of that feeling I alluded to above: Windrusher had become a noble friend and I wanted to make contact again. I had tried using the universal "inner ear" shared by all cats in their sleep but apparently cats are exclusive about joining in, so I had to buy the book instead - and I'm very glad I did.

About the Author My name's LJ Ruiz. I spent most of my teen years writing, but it took a LONG time to fine-tune a project into something I could truly be proud of. My first book published was Legend of the Defender: Vendetta, and since then I've published half a dozen other books ranging from Action to Adventure, Horror and even Romance. Using a very selective mix that injects comedy into dialogue-heavy scenes and relatable characters, I've created stories that the reader can connect to and imagine plain as day. I also perform music and use this as inspiration for certain scenes in the books, as well as taking influence from video games, movies, and other novels. I hope my readers enjoy my stories because I will continue to write as long as I have ideas... and I have decades of material to work with.

In case you missed it heres a recap: there was this vigilante named Syrena who fought a mystical being made of evil energy trying to make humans extinct. Or at least thats what i gather. the first book was pretty good, the second one blew my mind and the third book was... not my favorite. But the author probably anticipated that and wrote this book.This book is fourth in the series and is set 40 years into the future. The heroine this time a girl named Ronni who turns out to be a badass military soldier. as it turns out she ends up being a clone of Syrena, the hero from the first books. She gets recruited by this group called The Crimson Sigma which is run by none other than Gray, a villain-turned-protagonist from the last book, Legacy.This book can be enjoyed without the others fir a variety of reasons. It summarizes the entire plot in the prologue and periodically rehashes these events throughout the story. Also there is a certain event which directly connects this story to the first one. No spoilers but it reminded me of Terminator sort of.Pros include the traditional length (i was able to go through it in just over an hour and loved it), a badass cover (thank God he stopped drawing the covers) and a new set of fresh faces to fill uo the cast. Ronni is way more likeable than Syrenas weak kneed kid so in a way Syrena is back! There are a set of twins and a reptilian guy named Rax that bicker constantly so that never gets old. Cons include a lot of repetitive dialogue rehashing the plot (ok we get the point Syrena was the #*/^ back in her day. Lets move on already) and I noticed that the cover was low-resolution. Overall it seems to be on a great start and i cant wait to read part five if there even IS a sequel... but gotta say it was a nice save for the author and the series.

By Boo The Occupation (book two of the Shylmahn Migration) picks up a few years later in the storyline, yet leaves no gaps for the reader. The attention to detail linking this book to the first in the series left this reader chomping at the bit for the third book!The author did a great job leading the story forward in time while introducing new elements to the story that keep me engaged. Identifying with the struggle and the tenacity of mankind, our resistance to domination by anyone or anything and the refusal to give up0hope for our future are all traits that result in another great read! Nicely done sir!

Henty, has an interesting and oft used method of writing a novel while incorporating history and facts. He employs the well known story of a rabid dog attacking a French boy, employing his leading English boy, Harry. If memory serves there is a statue commemorating this event, but I suspect that the real hero was French and a focal point of inspiration to Louis Pasteur. The coincidence of the English boy named "Harry" has not gone unnoticed!The story is more interesting in that the author uses day-to-day experiences inside the "terror" that we would not otherwise know or even consider. For example, the general attitude of the aristocracy was to assume the "trouble" would pass and leave them in peace and the arrogant attitude that they should venture to Paris to assist the King! There will come a time in the late 18th century when all people of France were at risk of "the lady" with the blade.All in all, this is not only an enjoyable novel but a step into the past history of true terror. Well worth the read in the 19th century and 21st as well.

Henty once again spins his magic to make another major historical event understandable to the young reader--and does so in the kind of truly wonderful prose that is so very rare in today's literature for kids. No wonder this author is at the top of so many reading lists.

This is one of my favorite stories by Henty.If more young people spent more of their time reading books like this one then chivalry and respect for women might be more common.Boys would again act like gentlemen and girls like ladies.Heroism would be part of life and not just a curious trait of characters in old books.The characters in this story are quick thinking,brave,and honorable.This tale takes place during one of the most frightening times in history yet the character of our heroes gives us a happy ending.This book is well worth your time.

Since mid-career, Bowie has presented himself as a figure in darkness, progressively more hidden. Outside, which has him performing for an audience while simultaneously shunning them. This book explores Bowie's negotiation of his celebrity during his later career, with particular focus on 1.
