Jimmy R. Lewis earned a journalism degree from the University of Missouri. He worked as a newspaper reporter and as a staffer for the US Senate and the California Legislature. Lewis and his wife, Jan, live in Fair Oaks, California.

Jimmy captured the character of the area perfectly. My husband remembers many of the events he accurately recited.

Vivid Review of Small Town Life 75 Years Ago By Donna Capps Since I grew up in the area, it was wonderful to be reminded of familiar memories, as well as learning more about people and happenings that I had heard about, but did not know the details. Dr. Ellison, teacher Thelma Smith, preacher Little Charlie Keeliing, "Effern" Decker, The Tornado!Besides presenting the facts, from personal experience, as well as extended research in the Wheaton Journal and other printed material, the author put them together in stories with humor and pathos. It gave me a new appreciation for the place where I grew up and all the many characters who inhabited it.
