0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Love Recent Scholarship By Dr. Donald W. Haynes All the "New Interpreter's Bible Commentaries" are superlative! They represent the present generation of scholars, not those whose own graduate school faculty were from 19th century rather radical higher criticism that reflected too much historical, humanistic scholarship. In 1979 Brevard Childs work seeing scripture as primarily "canonical" was a "game changer." Bruggemann is "his own person" but appreciates Childs' work. The respective "Introductions" to each book and most of the commentary scholars in the New Interpreter's Bible Commentary" reflect scholarship in the "train" of these two men and their ilk. The "Reflections" on each book are excellent for preaching. I have seven sets of Bible commentaries and now seldom use any except the New Interpreter's Bible Commentary. I have shopped the used book market for bargains and finally acquired all except Volume X! I cannot afford $74.95 for this volume! Maybe it will finally show up as a used volume! I am now eighty years old; so I can't wait forever!Donald W. Haynes, Hood Theological Seminary
