Henty's novels fill a void in the area of literature that is appropriate for kids! It is full of adventure and is written in a style that kids will read comfortably. The 15 year old hero, the prince of a small nation invaded by the Egyptians,is of strong moral character and boys, especially, will love the story of his captivity! Packed full of details: Egyptian architecture, family life, methods of warfare, government, geography, religion, and more! Even a cameo appearance by Moses, himself! As a homeschooling mother, I bought this book for my 6th grader to supplelment our history studies. I found myself reading it whenever she put it down and we were devouring it together for an entire weekend. Can't wait to get more Henty novels!

Not only were we treated to an extraordinary story but to an amazing history lesson as well. Each chapter was full of details and interesting facts about Egypt woven into an exciting and suspenseful story. The vocabulary was fairly challenging but I considered this a positive aspect of the reading experience. We learned alot in a very painless way. We enjoyed G. A. Henty so much that we are reading another of his books now.

After reading the first three chapters, this book lay forgotten on my desk, getting covered with dust and cobwebs. My mom found it (I am an eleven year old girl who is homeschooled) and told me I had to read it. I picked up the boring book and stuck my whole face into the book. I read and read and read. I almost fell asleep a few times. Then, the light turned on for me. About half way through the book the excitment happened. I could put the book down until it was over. So, I think this book is worth four stars and four stars only. If it doesn't have a booming introduction, I'm not reading it. (or at least not until my mom says) Some good books, however are the following. I had to read them for school. They are historical fiction.Bonze BowHittite WarriorGolden Goblet...just a few of some really good books. The Bronze Bow is the best book I've read in my life.Over all, I think that The Cat of Bubastes has its share of boring parts in it. I would much rather read Harry Potter books than this, let's put it that way. But, it has its share of excitment in it too. I would read it again if I had to.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. I was really blown away by this book's originality! By Charity Rowell-Stansbury I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Joseph Collins, a successful and wealthy businessman, is informed that his wife, Adrianna, and his daughter, Tianna, are being held hostage by High Lord Daemonium. Joseph suspects that Daemonium took his family hostage because he uncovered am unauthorized project that one of his subsidiaries was working on. Expecting the worst, Joseph edits his last will and testament as his trusted employee, Dan Fuller, drives Joseph to meet with Daemonium at his chateau.Upon his arrival at the chateau, Joseph confronts Daemonium to discover why his wife and daughter are being held hostage. Daemonium's response is meaningless to Joseph because he claims that Joseph has done nothing to offend him. Confused, Joseph pleads for his wife's and daughter's lives; however, both are brutally killed in front of him before Daemonium turns on Joseph and kills him.The story jumps to fourteen years after the family's deaths, and readers discover that Tianna was not killed that day; she was rescued from Daemonium's wrath, and is attending school under the assumed name, Sara Fuller. Tianna dreams of becoming a lumia, an elite female warrior, so that she can stop hiding from those that seek to harm her, and waits anxiously for her rescuer and protector, Niobe, to retrieve her from the relative safety of the Venefica Academy and return home.Niobe has a plan that will allow Tianna to return home; however, Niobe and Tianna soon discover that the corruption and greed that motivated Daemonium to kill Joseph has turned trusted allies into enemies, and that the outcome of the fight to return Tianna to her former life will determine the fate of the realms. My summary of The Ancient Ones: Prophecy of the Ilat does not do it justice. It is a very complex and detailed story in an exquisite alternate reality with well-developed characters. C.E. Allan combined elements from Earth mythology, extraterrestrial origin of life theory, the "fall from grace" idiom, and political intrigue to create a unique and immersive story with a heroine that can kick some serious butt.I was really blown away by C.E. Allan's fresh and original take on themes that have been played out in the sci-fi/fantasy genre, and I would recommend it for readers that are not usually interested in sci-fi/fantasy books. While the setting and themes have a sci-fi/fantasy aspect to them, it read more like a futuristic action/adventure epic. The Ancient Ones: Prophecy of the Ilat is definitely on my list to re-read when I have the time, because I know that I am going to find nuances that I missed during my first read-through.

By Robin Surface The Ancient Ones: Prophecy of the Ilat has so much promise; it’s just unfortunate that the author didn’t even both to run the manuscript through grammar and spell check before publishing – thus my rating of 3-1/2 stars. The story and characters are good, but the abundance of errors – punctuation, tense, typos, etc. – is more than a little distracting.Even though many of the errors were cringe-worthy, I continued to read the book from beginning to end because the story was interesting. The likable (and evil) characters and the multi-dimensional setting made it compelling. The ending, though, felt a little rushed, which was odd since the rest of the book was so detailed. There was also a point where I felt there was something major missing. Unfortunately this happened during the dénouement and I am sure something important to understanding things was not included or was so vague that it wasn’t easily understood. (Please Mr. Allen, review the manuscript and fix this and the other issues.)Overall, the story is worth the effort but could be so much more if the author would just put a little more effort into it – though it would be better if he gave it to a professional editor (that could push this story into 5-star territory, in my opinion). If you can deal with the errors, it’s worth giving this book a chance.

When he returns home, he finds the guards around his family’s home slaughtered in the most gruesome way. Inside, he finds his family being held hostage by High Lord Daemonium. To say the high lord is a demon is to put it mildly: the creature is the essence of evil and is capable to horrifying destruction. Before his eyes, Collins is forced to watch as his family is butchered. In his last moments, Collins wonders why Niobe, the warrior charged with protecting his daughter, did not save from this horrible fate. Years later Tianna, Joseph Collins’s daughter, is living on a distant planet and attending school. When she learns that Niobe is once again returning to see her, she is thrilled. When Niobe arrives, she embraces Tianna and tells her that she is going to uncover the truth of her family’s murder. Unfortunately, when she reaches out to others for help Niobe reveals that Tianna is still alive. The news spreads quickly and soon Niobe is on the run again from armies and monsters seeking to finish the job that was started in Paris so long ago. The Ancient Ones: The Prophecy of the Ilat by C. E. Allen plunges the reader into a world of different dimensions and far away worlds. Personally, this novel excited me because it mentions the planet Nibiru, which is famed as being a lost or phantom planet in our solar system. The novel progresses quickly and takes the reader through different dimensions and worlds very quickly. At times, the storyline is a challenge to follow as some characters are introduced quickly and vanish just as fast. However, overall the story moved well and is enjoyable. For a debut novel, The Ancient Ones is an excellent offering.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Slow Start, but intriguing story By Craig A. Price Slow start. The beginning of this novel is a bit rough to get through, the pace is a bit slow, but its largest problem is that there are so many characters that it is hard keeping everybody straight. Once you get to about 16-17% it really picks up and becomes a good read that is hard to put down. The setting is post apocalyptic science fiction. It has fantasy elements where there is a magic system that is only briefly explained. This novel seems to take place around 3000 A.D. and it has a lot to say about how larger governments have failed by trying to be too controlling and giving more money to convicts and prisons than the people. Because of that, there was a large revolt that caused much of the land to be destroyed.I liked the book, but I see room for improvement. I would tell the author to take another look at the beginning 15% and see how to make things clearer, maybe introduce the characters at a slower pace so we can get to know them before being rushed to another. I would also update the cover, while it is a nice drawing and represents the main castle, I would talk to a graphic designer to clean it up a bit and make it more appealing to readers scrolling through covers. Also, the formatting is a bit rough. You can tell the author used tabs instead of the rule for indention. I would remove all the tabs and replace with first line .25 indention.I think there was a lot of build up for the good guys to overpower the bad, but when the moment happened it felt it was over too quickly.Overall, I really enjoyed the story and the pace was good. There was a lot of point of view changes, but after the 16% mark it was easy enough to follow. I think this book could be a lot better if these few small things were looked at and worked on, but I'd definitely recommend to post apocalyptic fans who don't mind a leniency toward a darker nature. Adult content.I'll be interested in reading the next book.

Tilly was seventeen, biracial, and no fool when it came to turning her dream into reality. "I got a plan if you are bold enough. Lots of money I'm talking about." She moved in close and began rubbing George where it felt good. "More money than you'll ever make in a lifetime. I'm asking if you want something better than working as a flunky pencil pusher in a sorry ass warehouse." Tilly's rubbing eased George Hall into the right frame of mind. Her plan made sense. Despite the fact that he was white and almost twice her age, they wouldn't be leaving Chattanooga with any problems chasing them.

The House of Crow draws you in, you are there, you can feel it, and you can see it. The character building is great, I even found myself liking Calvin Reese, a very unsavory bad guy, who might have been a better man had he been given the chance. If you like nonstop adventure, I recommend The House of Crow.

Review Witty faced-paced adventure story.  (Review exerpt from "Cymbaline")I really loved this story of four retired friends and their summer adventures....The writer's breezy style and the witty banter of the characters keep the story moving along at a brisk pace. I highly recommend this novel to adventure-loving readers who believe, as I do, that retirement only means the fun is just getting started. And I can't wait to read about the further adventures of this intrepid crew.It Captured My Attention Until I Could Not Put It Down!"All the excitement of a mystery, along with the delight of observing the inner action between friends. Those actions caused me to laugh out loud numerous times. " Janet Richey, Arizona.

From the Author I had fun writing this. If you have ever fantasized about owning a yacht or going on a boating adventure, this is the book for you.  You will find Charlie and his pals get into way more adventure than they bargained for as they learn how to manage a big new yacht and explore the Puget Sound and Inside Passage.

About the Author Retired Marketing guy, living in Ohio and having a bit of fun writing adventure and science-fiction stories.  As an avid reader, and now an author, I prefer stories which feel "real" with places, characters and actions which could actually happen.  My recent works such as "Obsidian Window" and "Blue Water Bedlam" are exactly that ... actually these works are "mixed genre"... a bit of action, mystery, adventure, and even a little touch of romance.

One of the four, Charlie, stuns his pals when he is given the opportunity to buy a beautiful yacht for a bargain price because his cousin died and the widow wants to be rid of it. They take all the necessary courses and plan a grand trip, even hoping to venture out into “blue water.” But, along the way, they discover that others are very interested in their new boat. And they further find that Charlie’s cousin died on the yacht under mysterious circumstances. Mischief, mayhem, action, adventure, gun fighting and a bear (oh my!) ensue as the friends try to solve the mystery and still have a good time on their trip. The writer’s breezy style and the witty banter of the characters keep the story moving along at a brisk pace. I highly recommend this novel to adventure-loving readers who believe, as I do, that retirement only means the fun is just getting started. And I can’t wait to read about the further adventures of this intrepid crew.

At first it comes across as a comedic description of four retired ‘guys’, sitting around with little to do, which leads one of them to make a purchase that none of them are truly ready for, but it has a surprisingly serious plot underlying the quips. It is very apparent that the author has done a lot of research to make the story as authentic as possible. It is also quite inspirational because, although the story itself is fictional, it shows that it is never too late to try new things and actually do them well, even if there are some bumps (and tumbles) along the way.I don’t want to give much away but there is never a dull moment, and the story moves forward at a pleasing rate, yet is still thorough in its descriptive prose. In addition, the writing covers such a variety of topics that I can’t see many who wouldn’t find something that they could enjoy and relate to within the pages, including the home-town coffee shop, boating, the Pacific Northwest, encounters with wildlife (some too close for comfort), love, relationships, friendly competition and most of all, international intrigue, murder and hidden agendas. The relationship between the four main characters is fun, and at times reaches uncomfortable limits that only those closest can manage without loss of friendship. You just can’t help feeling sorry for Charlie at times.I think this book would make a great vacation read, or perhaps open the door for a vacation of the mind after a busy day and I highly recommend that you decide to join Charlie and the others on the adventure of their lifetime.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The book is well written and worth the read but... By T. Graff The Insane RootI found very little about exactly what this story was about when I considered the purchase. I did not buy it here but felt it needed better description/review since I had such difficulty finding one. The one I found was from a magazine publication with book reviews from 1902.A woman has two lovers--a handsome man with an evil soul, a homely man with a noble soul. The latter. Dr. Marillier, assumes the body of the former, Ruel Bey, while it lies unconscious, and seeks Rachel. She perceives a difference of temperament and conduct, and presently begins to recognize Marillier. In developing this weird situation oriental passion and mysticism are well handled and the events of every-day life at a foreign embassy in London are so used as to give an impression of realism. The meaning and vitality of the romance lies in its unusual presentation of the old but ever-interesting problem of the Soul and the Body. Perhaps it might be termed uncanny, but so might " Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."

Australian SF Reader By average Praed had a thing for spiritualism and the occult later on, and this shows it, an occult romance I guess you could call it.Mandrake being a handy plant :"By the might of those Forces he had compelled to his service the occult power contained in the mandrakeroot;-"

The Pen and the Sword is an intense thriller set during the closing stages of the Arab Spring. A powerful cabal is covertly resurrecting the Islamic Caliphate, preparing for the return of the Mahdi and planning an event so horrifyingly cataclysmic that the long held schism between the divisions in Islam will be set aside in order to unite against the West. The impending destruction of Israel and the United States will plunge the world into highly profitable chaos. Rick Jackson, a disgraced journalist, busy at battle with decaying glory and paying for past indulgences, is blackmailed into using his column as the cabal’s propaganda outlet. Through his team of contacts and informants and research into Islamic history and prophecy, he uncovers their secret and gets caught up in something so powerful, so pervasive, so evil, that the only way out is to move forward with abandon without any hope of success or survival. With lethally beautiful CIA assassin Gin DuPree, Rick travels to the Middle East to retrieve the artifacts that the cabal needs to reform the Caliphate and legitimize the Mahdi. Rick and Gin steal Mohammed’s sword from the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, launch a chemical weapon attack at the Grand Mosque of Kufa, and infiltrate the Askari Mosque in Samarra where they find the long lost Book of Fatimah and Zulfiqar, the sword of Satan. They shelter at a secret American black ops site in the abandoned Camp Anaconda, and ultimately, with the assistance of Mossad, work their way back home to the United States. Once there, at the venerated House of the Temple in Washington D.C., they engage in physical and psychological battle with the supposed Mahdi himself. The Pen and the Sword brings sharp focus to the reality of the reemergence of Islam as a global power in the early 21st century and its violent impact on the world and United States.

Todd Webb's novel The Pen and The Sword. Webb has the skill to thrill and a plot so current and imaginative that you are afraid there is more truth than fiction on the pages. Kudos to a fresh face on the fiction scene who may well see a quick option for movie rights to this fast ride. Allan and Tricia Cecil, Charlotte,NC

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great book with exciting twists and turns. By Jake Forrest This is a great book by Todd Webb. It is full of twists and turns, and the storyline is very unique. Todd uses a lot of historical references to places across the globe - and it was almost as if he had been there himself. (maybe he has?) If you like suspenseful thrillers, then this is the book for you!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. An incoherent mess. By Sally An incoherent mess. My guess is that it is self published because a publisher would have rejected it. It is amateurish and badly written, not to mention the grammatical errors and misspellings. The writer would benefit from a rudimentary course in writing.

I have read a lot of books and I always wonder how an author creates a book and what he/she must have to know in order to write a book. Learning all of these for me is really shocking, exciting and amazing. This is exceptionally a good starting key for those who would like to try and give it a shot to become a writer or an author. From the basic steps to brainstorming, questions and promotions. A good read indeed and I might try to write a book one of this days and apply all the things that I have learned from this Charles Jensen book.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Want to give it 4 1/2 stars By Patty This book delivered exactly what it promised. There were several good points made that I have not come across in the multitude of other books I have read on writing. Short and to the point. It certainly makes writing a book in 24 hours actually feel do-able. It does not go into much detail, which is why I didn't give it a 5 star rating. Perhaps a better title would be "Write a Book like this one in 24 Hours." Which does not make it bad. It turned out to be precisely what I wanted.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Interesting topic! By amazon customer This book discusses a very interesting topic, writing a book in 24 hours, breaking the notion that writing a book eats up a lot of time. It also points relevant and important points to look at when writing and publishing your book. I find this book really helpful.

A Demon in the Desert (Grimluk, Demon Hunter Book 1), by Ashe Armstrong

From the Author I wrote this because I love weird westerns and I wanted to orcs get treated like more than just cannon fodder. Out came a demon-hunting gunslinger named Grimluk. I hope that despite any debut roughness that you'll find the story entertaining and want to see more. Grimluk's just getting started.

From the Back Cover The Wastelands mining town of Greenreach Bluffs is deteriorating: with each passing day its inhabitants grow more fearful and paranoid, plagued by...something. They suffer nightmares and hallucinations, there are murders at the mine; the community is on the brink of madness and ruin and, as events escalate, realization dawns: the town has a demon problem. Two attempts at hunting it down fail, Greenreach Bluffs is at breaking point...and then Grimluk the Orc strides in out of the Wastes to answer their call for salvation.

About the Author Ashe grew up watching and reading about adventures and having horrible nightmares. He spent most of his young life wanting to know more about what scared him but also doing so from between fingers and from under the covers. Eventually, the realm of nightmares became home. Heroes and villains and the struggle of Good against Evil combined with Horror helped mold him into the weirdo lover-of-the-strange that he is.Some of his biggest inspirational sources would be Clint Eastwood westerns, the Lord of the Rings, The Elder Scrolls video game series, Hellboy, the Vampire Hunter D series, Deadlands, Stephen King (especially the Dark Tower), Robert E. Howard, and HP Lovecraft. Star Trek has also played a pivotal role in Ashe's life.Ashe currently lives in Auburn, AL with his partner.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Yes. By Amazon Customer I didn't know that I wanted a fantasy western, but I did. I really, really did.The first few pages are a little rough, but they're the squeaky gate to a perfectly paced, unique, and overall well-constructed story that's entertaining as hell. It may have some minor flaws (occasional typo or misused word), but the bottom line is, I did not care. That's how good the story was.Bonus points:-Awesome female characters (always on my wishlist)-Seamless genre meld (not easy)-You will not see the dragon until it is on top of you.Do recommend, will be gifting to D&D nerd friends on their birthdays.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. refreshing twists By Courtney Cantrell Ashe Armstrong's first novel, A Demon in the Desert, has a lot in store for the reader of Weird Westerns. In casting the main character as an orc instead of a more traditional protagonist (human, elf, etc.), Armstrong promises a departure from same-old same-old fantasy, and he delivers on that promise. Elves, the zombie-like undead, dwarves, vampires -- magical creatures galore populate this Western. The climax offers a surprise appearance by a fantasy creature I did not expect, and Armstrong's twist on it made it not just a surprise but a delight.Grimluk, the orc protagonist, comes across as reserved and surly most of the time (pretty much what you'd expect from an orc!). But a softer side shows through, as well as hints of an interesting past. He's clever and inventive and confident, and his choices drive the story's fast action. There's a lot of room for exploring this character, and Armstrong's writing leaves no doubt that he will embark on that exploration with flair.I also very much enjoyed the strong, active roles many female characters play in Armstrong's tale. They're scrappy, courageous, and well able to determine their own course. Refreshing.Personally, I wanted more thorough editing throughout the novel -- but I also realize that many readers won't feel bothered at all. So, for its imaginative world, active characters, and interesting plot twists, A Demon in the Desert gets 4 stars from me.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Saturday afternoon read! By Samantha Full disclosure: I backed this project on kickstarter, and I don't regret it.Grimluk is a somewhat surly, somewhat sarcastic, somewhat vengeful- all what you'd expect from a demon-hunting orc. He's also got a softer side, but he's still delightfully unpolished. The supporting characters are a fun bunch, and you get a good feel for their different personalities and a bit of their backgrounds. I really enjoyed reading it, and the final battle had me with goosebumps and giggles (as an avid D&D player, I was picturing my group and I in the same situation and it was magnificent). That being said, it is a first novel, and there are some parts that were unpolished and needed a bit of work. There were a few slow bits, and while I like things being described in detail (better to help picturing it in my head), I can see why another review didn't enjoy it as much. Not a 5-star rating, but there is a LOT of potential for Grim's future adventures.

But he planned it that way.

The final piece of his vision falls into place when Alessandra Diosa investigates the crimes of Foreverland. Tyler will use her to create a new dimension of reality beyond anything his son ever imagined; a Foreverland for the entire world.

Danny, living outside of Spain since escaping the very first Foreverland, begins receiving mysterious clues that lead him to Cyn. They are both Foreverland survivors, but they have more in common than survival. They become pieces of another grand plan, one designed to stop Tyler Ballard. No one knows who is sending the clues, but some suspect Reed, another Foreverland survivor. Reed, however, is dead.

Everyone will make one last trip back to Foreverland to find out who sent them. And why.

It will mess with your mind and leave you mindblown By Genie What I've loved from the very beginning of this series is the overall concept - it's so fascinating. The virtual reality which seems so much like the real world, and how it affects those involved in it is something that definitely reminds me of Inception (so if you loved that movie, you're sure to love this book). However, despite that similarity, Ashes of Foreverland, and the previous installments - all take that idea even deeper. There are multiple POV's, though all written in third person which allows for such poignant prose to shine."Is the physical world any more legitimate than Foreverland? Under what pretense is physicality the gold standard? That was the question he begged all of humankind to answer."This book asks the question - at what point does science take things too far? When is the reality of humanity more important? Where is that line and what happens if you were to cross it? There's a definite existentialist vibe coming through here, and it almost feels philosophical, if you want to take it that way. How Danny Boy, Alessandra and Cyn were impacted upon by the works of Tyler Ballard and his wife Patricia is multifaceted and endlessly intricate. When you're dealing with such topics as the mind and how perceptions of reality combined with that 'nothingness' which you could fall into is so captivating. I also really liked how this picked up on Tony Bertauski's other Halfskin series (and the fourth 'Foreverland' novel will combine these two series together fully.)"Time was the god that meted out each grain with methodic timing and refused to sell more. Time was a cruel god that promised eternity. But delivered only the past."There's also, as always, some fantastic mystery/thriller elements here to keep those pages turning. From hidden messages in endless parcels written with signature green ink, to characters who turn out not to be who you thought they were - it's all here and left me going WOW. One thing to remember with these novels is expect the unexpected and trust no one. That being said, there were a few surprises where some of the people who you perhaps thought were bad weren't after all."The ceiling swirled into the sky, the walls fell apart. There was no sensation of travel, no illusion of space. The needle's kiss."FINAL THOUGHTSThe characters in this books have their minds messed with, and just reading this will probably do the same to you (in the best possible way of course). If you're a sci-fi or Inception fan who and looking to be mindblown, then I'd definitely recommend this!

Ashes, Ashes, All Fall Down By DrPat If you haven't read the first two books in the trilogy, this review may contain SPOILERS."Annihilation" was about boys on a paradise-island shutting down the lure of Foreverland to avoid being severed from their bodies. "Dead" had girls escaping from their cold concentration camp to evade the same fate. Now in "Ashes of Foreverland," those who got out of their prisons are beginning to wonder if Foreverland is still waiting for them somewhere. A journalist, Allesandra, has started to investigate the crimes of the cabal that organised Foreverland, and part of her story is an interview with Tyler Ballard, in prison for life for his original Foreverland experiments, the ones that eventually killed his son and hospitalized his wife. What Alessandra discovers brings her entire world into question:* If Ballard is in prison, why does everyone around him—including his guards and the warden—do his bidding?* Why has his comatose wife Patricia been moved into the same building where there are ongoing Ballard-style dream experiments using animals?* What draws Alessandra so strongly to this building, to the dream-state lab?* Who are the Foreverland escapees, Danny and Cyn, and what are they to Alessandra?* Who is the mysterious doctor-director of the dream-state lab?As Ballard works to create a world-wide Foreverland, Alessandra fights to find a path through an increasingly confusing world that may not be as real as anyone—Ballard, Danny, Cyn, or Alessandra herself—thinks.Together, the three novels of this trilogy present a powerful statement about reality and the lure of dreams. The "Foreverland Boxed" set was my first encounter with Bertauski, and I will definitely be looking for more of his work.

BWAAAAAAAHHH By PSW Disclosure: I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.Sometimes, at the conclusion of a great story, you just sit back and say "damn".The three Foreverland stories are very different, but all revolve around the sinister paradise of Foreverland. "Ashes of Foreverland" takes the ideas and momentum of the first two stories and goes a bit mental, in a good way."Ashes" is very layered, weaving in and out of realities and in and out of story-lines. We see some familiar faces, and some new faces, and some faces that might be familiar or might not be. It also weaves in some elements of Tony's other books, which is quite interesting.Things I liked:• Lots of craziness - Everything was on edge all the time, didn't let up the whole book• Character Growth - Danny and Cyn really grow up during the course of this book. I think they learn a lot about themselves as they fight through the story.• Ending - The ending of "Foreverland is Dead" made me go "ahhhh what was that?!?". I had a similar reaction to the end of "Ashes", but in a very different way. Very fitting.Things I didn't like:• Too much stuff - I did feel like there were a lot of ideas shoved into this story, maybe a few too many.• The fate of some characters - No spoilers but I didn't really like the way some characters from earlier books were dealt with towards the end. But, I guess, it was fitting for the tone of the story.Final thoughts:If you liked the first two stories in this series, you will love this story. It is a fitting end (?) to the Foreverland Saga; it will confuse you for a while, it will make you second-guess where the characters are, and it will make you go "hmmm, oh....damn". I highly recommend "Ashes of Foreverland", and, of course, the preceding Foreverland stories.

Have you always wanted to learn how to speak the Emirati Arabic Dialect but simply didn’t have the time?

Well if so, then, look no further. You can hold in your hands one of the most advanced and revolutionary method that was ever designed for quickly becoming conversational in a language. In creating this time-saving program, master linguist Yatir Nitzany spent years examining the twenty-seven most common languages in the world and distilling from them the three hundred and fifty words that are most likely to be used in real conversations. These three hundred and fifty words were chosen in such a way that they were structurally interrelated and, when combined, form sentences. Through various other discoveries about how real conversations work—discoveries that are detailed further in this book—Nitzany created the necessary tools for linking these words together in a specific way so that you may become rapidly and almost effortlessly conversant—now.

If your desire is to learn complicated grammatical rules or to speak perfectly proper and precise Arabic, this book is not for you. However, if you need to actually hold a conversation while on a trip to Dubai or Abu Dhabi, to impress that certain someone, or to be able to speak with your grandfather or grandmother as soon as possible, then the Nitzany Method is what you have been looking for. This book is recommended for those who already have some prior knowledge of the pronunciation of Arabic accents (such as the Arabic accents: ayin, ghayn, ha, and khaf). For those of you who do not, this book does indeed provide some great, in-depth techniques on the pronunciation and recognition of these accents, that you will encounter throughout the program. These techniques have proven extremely beneficial for beginner students who were previously unfamiliar with these accent pronunciations. But keep in mind this isn’t a pronunciation book.

This method is designed for fluency in a foreign language, while communicating in the first person present tense. Nitzany believes that what’s most important is actually being able to understand and be understood by another human being right away. Therefore, unlike other courses, all words in this program are taught in English transliteration, without having to learn the complex alphabet. More formalized training in grammar rules, etc., can come later.

This is one of the several, in a series of instructional language guides, the Nitzany Method’s revolutionary approach is the only one in the world that uses its unique language technology to actually enable you to speak and understand native speakers in the shortest amount of time possible. No more depending on volumes of books of fundamental, beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, all with hundreds of pages in order to learn a language. With Conversational Arabic Quick and Easy, all you need are fifty-three pages.

Learn the Arabic Dialect of the United Arab Emirates today, not tomorrow, and get started now!

Kayla Meadows’ life, with a wonderful husband and great career, couldn’t be more perfect. But when a routine flight into Dallas goes horribly wrong, her fate and the fate of the others she meets is left in jeopardy. Someone has set off an EMP device, shutting down the entire power grid, including communications and all motorized transportation. Chaos has ensued, and now Kayla must confront her deepest fears as she struggles to get home in an increasingly hostile environment. And it’s not only her fears that she must deal with, but the anxieties and doubts of those she suddenly finds herself responsible for. Written with unbounded intelligence and seen from a uniquely female perspective, this is a novel about pushing the boundaries of fear, adapting to life in an uncertain world, and finding faith in the face of raw ambition and power. Kayla has never truly been on her own before and now faces a nearly 200 mile trek on foot through what’s quickly becoming hostile territory. Joe and Monica, a couple thrust upon Kayla, don’t want to face up to the new reality. Mike, a teenager who was home alone when the event occurred, is looking for adventure. And Jim and his crew don’t want to rock the boat, even after they become aware of the sinister plot behind the catastrophe.

Unprepared (Volume 1), by N Sieffert PhD

About the Author Dr. Sieffert has always been an avid reader, enjoying many genres. This is evident in her writing as well, since she has published both fiction and non-fiction, and even children's books. Her fiction novels span the genres from suspense to science fiction to family saga. Her children's books were started because she wanted to ensure that her own grandchildren were introduced to Christianity in a clear and systematic way. And she wanted them to easily defend their faith, too! This leads to the subject of her doctorate, which is in Apologetics (making a defense). Sieffert feels strongly that all Christians should not only know what they believe, but be able to defend it. Her own faith grew by leaps and bounds during this time of study. She recommends it for all Christians. She and her husband of nearly 33 years have become increasingly aware of the issues in America, and have begun their own preparations to survive and be prepared to help others, should a catastrophe of some kind occur. It was this preparation which has led to her latest novel about survival in a hostile environment. She and her husband live on a very small but productive farm outside of Dallas, Texas, where they raise chickens, goats and pigs, and are teaching their children and grandchildren how to live more independently.

By Hershel Pryor I've read many books dealing with an EMP event, and find most are very "technical" and have characters that are already aware and prepared to some degree. This book deals with a main character who vaguely knows about survival, but is definitely not prepared to make it on her own. She must figure out how to push through the circumstances while handling adversity, personal fears and loss of people she meets on the long journey home. As she overcomes the challenges, she must accept that the old rules no longer apply. I like her growing faith in God, and acceptance of His guidance in her life. Most survival experts attest to the fact that the survivors are the ones who do not give up. This is an important lesson for all of us, including our children and grandchildren. I hope we never need to survive events like those described in the book, but being prepared, mentally and physically, is 90 percent of the battle. I will definitely buy copies of this book as gifts, and to share with friends. Whether you believe in God or not, you will find an amazing story and lesson in this book.

An event can laterally happen at any moment, by solar flare or other more nefarious means. We get to follow a character that is focused on life as usual, it's just that the "not so usual" ensues in a major way. Lost in the naivety of trust in your fellow man. Your main character Kayla survives tragic events and embarks on a dangerous and enlightening journey. Kayla learns and enlightens her followers by trial and error. Along the way she is challenged mentally, physically, and spiritually. Her goal is to get home to her husband, who she hopes has survived as well. This book will give woman a few things to think about that are unique to women. A definite must read for those that are unaware of what can happen in a world turned pside down.

By Toddee A great read and a much needed eye opener with all that is taking place in the world today. The story makes you think how you may react in a similar situation and how you may need to prepare for such an event. It also makes you think about those you interact with on a daily basis, and how dependent you've become of modern devices. The story was well thought out and if your like me you could see the story played out in your mind's eye while you read. Loved it and looking forward to book two!
