About the Author Andy Tuohy is a graphic designer and worked in advertising for many years before becoming a freelance artist/ designer. He has had design work commissioned by the Tate Modern and Tate Liverpool, Turner Contemporary and Henley Regatta, and has been featured in Design Week amongst other publications.

By Mike O'Connor Andy Touhy and Matt Glasby's A TO Z GREAT FILM DIRECTORS is a short-and-sweet guide to 52 notable silver screen directors. A 2015 Cassell Illustrated release, it offers up a comprehensive guide to those men and women who have fashioned unforgettable flicks over the past 100 years.Alphabetically arranged, A TO Z GREAT FILM DIRECTORS provides two-page, comprehensive write-ups by Glasby of iconic filmmakers like Chaplin, Welles, Coppola, Ford, Kubrick, Bergman, Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Eisenstein, Leone, Peckinpah, Lang, Spielberg and Wilder along with lesser well-known directors like Zhang Yimou, Krzysztof Kieslowski and Ousmane Sembene. It's an almost all-boys club roster although Kathryn Bigelow and Jane Campion made the cut. Each entry includes b&w/color photographs and sidebars on recommended 'Films to See' and 'Did You Know?' trivia bits. Touhy's wonderful illustrations of each director are a big plus.Armchair cinema buffs will enjoy A TO Z GREAT DIRECTORS. It offers insightful summaries of some very talented directors careers along with a guide of their best films to see. Recommended.

I'm using this as inspiration to figure out which classics I should watch. Striking visuals would make this a lovely gift or coffee table book. I hghly recommend it!
