A delicate balance exists between humankind on Earth and the Coronians, the descendants of terrestrial scientists who were marooned aboard the space station Equinox. In exchange for raw materials crucial to expanding their off-world home, the Coronians provide precious space-based solar power to an Earth obscured by greenhouse gasses. But distrust runs deep between the two races, with each yearning for freedom from their mutual dependence yet both terrified of perishing without the other's help.

Now, their future rests in the hands of Ayla Novik, an itinerant smuggler desperate to survive the menacing world in which she plies her trade, and Luka Mance, a drug-addicted technician determined to save his planet and his people from deadly betrayal by their extraterrestrial cousins. When Ayla makes a devil's deal to take human hostages in a Coronian power play, her mission sparks a revolt that will force an ultimate confrontation between earthbound and space-born...deciding once and for all whether two races will rise to coexistence or collapse in devastation.

By Dave H "Equinox" by Christian Cantrell is a stirring and well researched story that was written with technology propeller heads in mind. While I loved the storyline I was really overwhelmed by the overwrought and tedious references to the technology aspects which is rife throughout the story. Cantrell is one of my favorite authors and I was taken aback a bit by my disappointment with this book which is why I rated it 3 stars!!!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not up to the excellence of Containment By Patsy Hennessey I really loved Containment, so I was thrilled to hear that a sequel was coming. I had a little more trouble getting into this installment, mainly because while it was obviously written in the same universe, it took a really long time to actually connect in any way with Containment. It is, like Containment, what I'd call a "techie" book, in that the technology and science of the world is explained in a lot of detail and really brought to life. Much like Containment, the male protagonist of the story is very well developed and well written. The important female characters, much like Cadie in the original story, seem far less well developed and two dimensional. I wasn't left feeling like I really knew them or had any insight into the motivations behind their actions. There were also some threads that just seemed to be dropped from the narrative without ceremony, leaving me wondering about the fate of some of the characters, I was left with the feeling the author just tired of them and didn't want to bother wrapping up their stories.

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A wonderful experience. By D. Lockwood There is real character development here. The players are complex, real people. The story line begins in the usual (unfortunately) dystopian future but actual solutions arise. As the situation develops the solutions evolve. What begins as the protagonist's ennui and depression over his feeling of guilt at the loss of his wife and unborn child is transformed by the redemptive force of optimism and forgiveness, A really positive experience to read this wonderful book and I thank Mr. Cantrell for sharing it with us.

For two months I had been on the d'Entrecasteaux Islands gathering data for the concluding chapters of my book upon the flora of the volcanic islands of the South Pacific. The day before I had reached Port Moresby and had seen my specimens safely stored on board the Southern Queen. As I sat on the upper deck I thought, with homesick mind, of the long leagues between me and Melbourne, and the longer ones between Melbourne and New York.

Review "The Moon Pool is a lost-world novel in the tradition of Jules Verne, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Edgar Rice Burroughs, H. Rider Haggard, and James Hilton that manages to be spooky, spiritual, and silly all at once."--Belles Lettres

Review "This edition of The Moon Pool is a rare accomplishment: a scholarly edition of a piece of pulp fiction. Levy's edition does a service to the whole genre." (John Huntington, author of Rationalizing Genius)

About the Author Author of 15 science fiction and fantasy novels, ABRAHAM MERRITT (1884-1943) was the most popular genre writer of his time. His talent for fantasy and science fiction writing was first recognized when the novelette version of this story appeared in a 1918 issue of All-Story Weekly. MICHAEL LEVY currently serves as Chair of the Department of English and Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. From a guy that's been to the mine. By densbtly The plot of the book, and descriptions of its characters have been covered pretty well already so I'll skip that.I'm not a diver, nor have I ever cared to be one. I bought this book because of the story's location. I live just twenty or so minutes from the town of Bonne Terre, Mo, the location of the story's mine. Though the mine's name is changed in McCoy's fictional work, very much about the location is dead on. The Bonne Terre Mine is indeed filled with water and divers routinely train and explore there. As for me, an avid non-swimmer, I took the walking tour. The vastness of the rooms, blasted and carved out by thousands of men for nearly a hundred years is completely overwhelming. The great majority of the vast depth and breadth of the mine, with nearly eighty miles of passages and rooms is under water; crystal clear, current-less and virtually lifeless. (no sea lion, sorry, but there is a fish, a bass I think, but just one)In this book, McCoy captured the darkness, the immensity and the cold, dripping loneliness of the mine beautifully. The seemingly endless lightless passages could very well indeed hide a secret nearly forever.McCoy's descriptions of the regions were very accurate, and respectful. I truly appreciated the author not taking the easy low road, locals as rural rubes and hicks. Certainly there are some here at the eastern tip of the Ozarks, but no more than you would find in New Jersey or California. Yes there is one stereotypical racist and womanizing deputy, but I don't think that this would be hard to find in nearly every police force in the nation, rural or urban. My hat is off to Mr. McCoy for treating the region and its denizens fairly, respectfully, and accurately. As to the story itself, it was truly engaging. It is a splendid thriller, not at all like most of the popular boilerplate serial-murder novels. There's little blood splatter, contrived shock or overwhelming violence. It is the story that makes this book. The heroes and villains were human and believable; the technology discussions were informative and not overpowering or tedious. You will learn things from this book, things that you might not otherwise come to know. Not that you NEED to learn them if like me you never plan to strap a pressurized tank of gas (or gasses) to your back and jump into a dark underground lake the size of a city, but the brain does get stimulated by new knowledge. The victims are also treated with respect and value, not hapless giggling idiots. They have families and pasts and futures cut far too short.I recommend this book to anyone looking to cut away from the typical blockbuster big-city shock-thrillers that litter the shelves in bookstores. Aside from being just a really good read, and a marvelous story it is a refreshing glimpse of a part of America where real people live; that vast, rarely mentioned (in literature) and often exotic land somewhere between LA and New York City.

6 of 9 people found the following review helpful. The Moon Pool By L. Hobson Max McCoy will hold you on the edge of your chair as you journey into not only an under water grave site but the mind and body of a serial killer. At 400 feet deep you will find the victims hidden in what use to be an mining town that now finds itself covered with water and only a part of the past. The killing seems to have gone on for a very long time and a underwater crime scene investigator Richard Dahlgren is called in to handle the investigation. Where the story goes from here is where you come in, by reading this story, it will open your mind and you will enter the mind of a serial killer. Larry Hobson- Author "The Day Of The Rose"

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Moon Pool and cave diving By William Mixon I bought this book without very high expectations, because it was apparently published originally as a mass-market paperback. But I'd been told it had a hi-tech cave-diving theme, and it did turn out to mention several cave-divers I know. (But the scene is really a flooded mine.) It's not a mystery; you find out whodunit on the first page of the first chapter. I guess it's a suspense thriller. I found it readable, but the author's inclusion of lots of unnecessary facts in an effort to show off his research skills did get a bit tiresome. The author is better at technology than character development.

Osier Cedric, born Madai and therefore more than nobility on an Earth slowly recovering from long ago horrors, bought an Inaut slave and set her free. He did not know that Tryn had been born to a high station of her own, even though Cedric - unlike most of his fellow Madai - did know that Inaut were fellow humans. Not animals who, except for their different coloring, merely resembled them. He certainly never expected that Tryn would one day return the favor by saving his life, nor did he dream that she would become his wife and his children's mother. All that happened in Disillusionment Book One. As Book Two opens, Tryn fights a drako and barely manages to survive. Drakos, perhaps known to her ancestors as dragons, are the latest weapon loosed on the Inaut in the war to take their lands from them. There are others besides the one she kills, and now she needs to return to her family and protect them. Her family: Cedric; Kira, his adolescent daughter by his Madai first wife, who seems as much Tryn's own as 9-year-old Tarenek who was born to them; and her brother, Tilak, who leads their people now and takes a rebellious Kira under his wing. Is there any hope now for peace between Madai and Inaut? Any hope for Earth itself, as the Pure Ones for whom its resources must be mined take more and more until the planet shows signs of sliding back into the devastation from which their ancestors long ago fled? This is the second installment in a sweeping story, one that spans an altered planet and reaches out across space. It deals with not just simple good vs. evil, but with how good people can find themselves caught in situations that change them for the worse. Its characters, both those brought forward from the first book and those introduced during this one, come to life and respond realistically (although by no means predictably) to what they encounter as well as to each other. These are complex people who are neither perfect nor always admirable, but they are people the reader can't help caring about. Intriguing, imaginative, and exciting reading, with more books to come before the story ends!--Reviewed by Nina M. Osier, author of the HIGH PLACES series and 2005 EPPIE winner REGS

A rip-roaring adventure that sucks you in fast By Geoffrey West From the dark backroom of a seedy bookshop to the dangerous wilds of a hostile jungle, this new ultra-English hero, Jack Preston, courts danger relentlessly, and is always half a step ahead of death. This racy story follows Jack as he is sucked into an adventure against his will, for the sole reason that he's forced into the most difficult situation of all: threats to the life of the woman he loves. This is a very fast-paced story, and the tension picks up fast and doesn't ever let go. There are chases underneath river beds, through waterfalls, sudden death lurking at every turn, tribes of murderous natives out to get him, while even amongst his allies is his greatest enemy of all, the one who's forcing him to do what he knows he really shouldn't. But what choice does he have?Jack Preston is a hero in the Lee-Child mould: someone strong, macho and fearless who never shies away from trouble and always wins a fight, an ex soldier who takes on dangerous 'projects' for a living, well aware that the odds will be stacked against him, but confident that he'll win through in the end. And he does. You'll like this book if you like lively adventure stories with a likeable, resourceful, tough and macho, yet cerebral type of hero, the kind of man who can handle a gun as proficiently as he can manipulate a delicate crumbling 600-year-old parchment. The kind of man that men admire, and women fall for. There are quite a few twists to keep you guessing, an arch-enemy you can hate, and a very desirable heroine, who gives as good as she gets.Looking forward to the next Jack Preston thriller. I'm eagerly anticipating his next adventures.

I enjoyed that novel for tasteful descriptions of milieu and well-rounded, fully developed characters. Although I don't usually read adventure stories, I was hoping to find similar world and character development because that is what I enjoy most about any story. The first chapter really pulls the reader in. We find Jack Preston, the protagonist, in a book store searching for a rare book. The author depicted this scene particularly well. It had that old, creepy, I'm in a bookstore but I'm on an adventure kind of feel. From here the action never really lets up. Jack's girlfriend gets kidnapped and the reader finds herself In the jungle alongside Jack who is forced to guide a madman to the most precious artifact of all. I'd say what it is but I don't want to spoil anything. Throughout, Jack is surrounded by danger, but always keeps a cool head.I thought that Jack was a well developed character for this type of story. I liked that he was tough but still tender towards his girlfriend, Abigail. He reminded me of Indiana Jones. After reading this, I'm still impressed by this author's ability to add setting descriptions so seamlessly. I always felt as if I could see what was going on without feeling like I was being told what was going on.The ending was very good and that is all I will say about that.Overall, I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading another adventure novel written by this author.Highly Recommended

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Not much of an adventure By Carol Lots of potential; but falls way short. The opening sequence really grabbed me! I loved it. The old, dusty bookshop, the creepy bookstore clerk & an adventurous antiquities collector. For a few chapters the suspense began to build & the reader wants to know, "What's in the book? What powers does it have? Who is the anonymous client that hired Jack? Who kidnapped his girlfriend?" Sadly after that, it fizzled. I was hoping for more of an Indiana Jones-esque type adventure; but what action there was, just kept repeating itself. The characters weren't all that interesting & were predictable & one dimensional. Unfortunately, the main protagonist wasn't that exciting. The ending gave me a "Huh?" kind of feeling & the book that was so important to find in the beginning had very little significance once it was found.I really wanted to like this book & was excited when I started reading; but in the end was disappointed.

Far into the future, the battlefield is in space. Robots, Catladies, Reptiloids, Stygians, and Lizards are as common as Humans. Most are friendly, but when there is trouble in space, mercenaries come to the rescue. Major Fargon Conclusyon, a Star Warrior, is part of a space mercenary unit for hire and does what it takes to get the job done, even if it means taking a few lives. When he is given an assignment to stop vicious space pirates from terrorizing the Federal Planet of Gautama, a place where religion forbids the taking of sentient lives for any reason, Fargon is put in a perilous situation and must decide how to keep his mercenaries safe without killing the pirates. If he follows the strict policy of the Government of Gautama, can he find a way to bring the pirates in peacefully without losing any of his soldiers?

It just wasn't a really good book. It's a good read and keeps a good pace. The characters are believable and the narration is good. However, there is no real universe in which to become immersed. You are told precious little about the society you're reading about, so there's not much else except the mercenaries.A little time spent giving the reader a mental image of what this society is about would go a long way to making this book a really good one. For instance, why are there mercenary groups all over the galaxy and where is the military? Why are the government(s) allowing these mercenaries to settle disputes?

By me Another great story of archeologist Philip and artist Ros.Steeped in fascinating history of the Alexandrian era and beyond and a vision of life and tolerance in the Afghanistan of the great hippie trail and then the Russian invasion.I heartily recommend this book but with an advisement, you MUST read the previous books first. Kara Tepe, Ayios Petros and Nardoo for the full adventure.Great imagination and writing.

Lords of War is the first novel in the best-selling Star Crusades: Mercenaries series that follows the violent struggles of the Alliance, mankind's first interstellar empire.

Spartan is a living legend, a veteran of the Alliance Marine Corps, victor of a multitude of military campaigns including the horrific Biomech War. He is both loved and reviled by friend and foe alike, and now lives out on the fringes of the Alliance. He has fought for money, for his people and for the very survival of his species, and lost everything in the process. But when two of his closest friends are captured supplying weapons to the desperate Byotai settlers of Karnak, the fight becomes personal.

The Great Biomech War left millions dead, colonies burned, and cities turned to ash. Millions more continue to endure in the harshest of conditions. The Alliance attempts to restore order, yet already new enemies have begun to strike at will, encouraged by their weakness. Border planets succumb to the raids of warlords, and many doubt how long the peace will last, after it was won at such cost.

Since the end of this war, Spartan and his friends have worked to create an elite fighting force based at Taxxu, for use by the Alliance. Using the latest high-energy weapons, armored fighting suits and a prototype Confederate-class warship, it will be a force unlike any the Alliance has seen before. Spartan will use this and every other asset at his disposal to save his friends. Nothing, not even the entire might of the invading Anicinàbe clans and their fearsome clan leaders, can stop him, even if it means starting his own private war.

Star Crusades: Mercenaries is the third Star Crusades series, and is set in the aftermath of the apocalyptic Biomech War. The war may have been won, but after nine long years the future still looks bleak. Entire planets remain devastated, and millions of citizens are homeless.

Military sci-fi By Brianna I think I have read my first sci-fi novel when I was 13 years old, and that was the first and last time for many years to come. I simply did not like the kind, and I found the will to try it again only 1 or 2 years ago. Ever since that time, I have read some good ones and some bad ones and not being necessarily a fan of the kind - I feel my opinion is always objective when it comes to this kind of books. This one goes one level beyond standard sci-fi - being a military sci-fi novel that focuses on Spartan, a victorious inter-galactic warrior, and on his actions, life and challenges. Very detailed, very well structured, very outside of this world, and still easy to relate to - this novel is really one of the sci-fi stories that will be probably loved by fans and appreciated by those who simply love a good book and are not necessarily sci-fi fans.

8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. This is not a "Book 1" of a series. It is about book 7, so don't start here. By Jeffrey W. McClure I have been reading military science fiction for over 50 years. For a reasonable part of that time I qualified as a commander of Armor, Armored Cavalry, Air Cavalry, Army Combat Aviation, and as an intelligence analyst. (Yes, I had entirely too much fun at Uncle Sam's expense!) Unfortunately, I cannot rate this novel other than two stars. My advice is to not buy this book unless you have read the preceding trilogy (which I have not). I put it down about a quarter way through the book because I had lost track of the host of characters and alien sets of beings brought to the stage, and the book was still explaining more of them! Unfortunately, the book is advertised as "Book 1" of a series. It clearly is a very late book in a very long series with references to things like "the twelve" without an explanation of what that means. If I am going to finish the book, I will need to first go back about three books and figure out what/who all the group and individual players are.

The Alliance won’t let him and neither will the bad guys! He’s always got to be in on the action or he gets real bored real quick. Although, after the last war with the Biomechs, Spartan is recovering from the loss of his Wife and Son. Surprising that that happened, but that’s war and Spartan could do nothing about it.He’s now being contacted by his old friend, Gen. Daniels and Colonel Black from Alliance Intel. They are wondering what Spartan and the CTC corporation are doing on the other side of the Black rift. It just so happens that Spartan is in the process of developing a new fighting tactic involving an Interstellar Assault Brigade. General Daniels just happens to mention to Spartan that there is a growing disturbance of the peace between the Byotai and the Anicinàbe. Apparently, the Byotai were happily occupying a planet which now the Anicinàbe want. The Anicinàbe are out to exterminate the otherwise peaceful Byotai. General Daniels goes on to tell Spartan that the Alliance can’t really do much about this squabble since they have to maintain the peace over a much vaster Alliance since the war was won.Spartan wants no part of this fight. He knows what Gen. Daniels is trying to do and although they are friends from way back, Spartan has no desire to fight right now. His friend, Kan, a BioMech turned good guy, can’t wait for his next battle. That’s what he was made for and he can’t stand just waiting around. Same goes for Olik, the other BioMech who I believe works with Gen. Daniels and the Intel Colonel, Colonel Black. So, Gen. Daniels goes off to help the Byotai defend themselves. He’s bringing in weapons they desperately need to fight back against the Anicinàbe. And of course, he gets captured. He’s not there representing the Alliance so they are not going to come rescue him. And, even worse, he has brought along and has been captured with, Gun, the BioMech Leader and Spartan’s best friend. So, who do you think is going to have to rescue these two?Right, Colonel Black immediately goes back to Spartan in the Black Rift and tells him what has happened. Time to kick some booty! This is another fighting mad story. There’s both the Naval battles and the ground fighting. Both types of fighting get very confusing. I would like to see this kind of story in a movie so I could better understand what’s happening. At times it sounds like Spartan, Gun, Khan and Olik all get shot so many times I don’t know how they are even standing. Of course they all usually wear some type of fantastic armor, which helps, but still it’s got to hurt. The writing gets fast and furious at the end. We meet some new characters that may be in the next book of the series, but I don’t think this series will ever end. Yes, Spartan is getting older, but he’s doesn’t seem to be slowing down much.A great read if you like Science Fiction battles, lots of blood and violent descriptions. Sounds like fun!

In 1933, John Rice founded Black Mountain College in North Carolina as an experiment in making artistic experience central to learning. Though it operated for only 24 years, this pioneering school played a significant role in fostering avant-garde art, music, dance, and poetry, and an astonishing number of important artists taught or studied there. Among the instructors were Josef and Anni Albers, John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Buckminster Fuller, Karen Karnes, M. C. Richards, and Willem de Kooning, and students included Ruth Asawa, Robert Rauschenberg, and Cy Twombly.   Leap Before You Look is a singular exploration of this legendary school and of the work of the artists who spent time there. Scholars from a variety of fields contribute original essays about diverse aspects of the College—spanning everything from its farm program to the influence of Bauhaus principles—and about the people and ideas that gave it such a lasting impact. In addition, catalogue entries highlight selected works, including writings, musical compositions, visual arts, and crafts. The book’s fresh approach and rich illustration program convey the atmosphere of creativity and experimentation that was unique to Black Mountain College, and that served as an inspiration to so many. This timely volume will be essential reading for anyone interested in the College and its enduring legacy.

Wonderful scholarship, a beautiful book By withoutpictures Inserts women rightfully back into the history of BMC alongside their male peers whose history has been fleshed out more in other publications. This catalog provides an interesting model for cross-disciplinary historical survey publications to come. Wonderful scholarship, a beautiful book, little seen works reproduced, accompanying one of the best shows of the year.

Buy it if you did not see the show ...or even if you did, as this exhibit is more about an important moment in 20th century art history and is not about an exhibit of major work, which for most of these artists was yet to come. It will cost a lot more when it is out of print.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Worthwhile, comprehensive & interesting By DS Excellent, most complete catalogue of BMC. Good descriptions of teachers & students, transition of Bauhaus ideas to America, and influence of the program on art & culture. Many nice color pictures and illustrations as well as in b&w.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Engaging, witty and great writing style! Fantastic start to a slightly different British crime procedural By Petra Reading the book's description, I was expecting a straightforward British crime procedural, but Alone With The Dead was so much more than that.Set in London in 1991, it follows Irish beat cop PC Donal Lynch who is dreaming of becoming a detective. When he is the first at the scene of a woman's horrific murder, he seizes his opportunity and wants to help solve the case. However, Donal has a lot of personal problems he also has to deal with. He is a red wine drinking insomniac who can't get over his first girl-friend Eve, who was charged with murder back in Ireland. His relationship with his brother Fintan, who is a London crime reporter, is complicated, and his relationship with his Catholic dad non-existent.Written in the first person, James Nelly has succeeded in creating a truly interesting and unique character. I loved Donal's descriptions of growing up in rural Ireland in the 1980s ("It was easier to get hold of Semtex than a packet of condoms.") and his cynical observations on life in general. Donal is just a funny and quite adorable guy. This is the author's first novel, but James Nelly has long-term experience in journalism and TV production, which shows. The writing was superb. The dialogue witty and authentic.Being a bit of a psychology nerd and interested in all things brain-related, I also really enjoyed Donal's "therapy" sessions, but I appreciate that other readers may feel that these parts could have been more condensed. The police procedural more or less flowed around this really intriguing central character and his complicated personal life as he struggles with an extraordinary aptitude and shady elements within the police force.Highly recommended if you enjoy crime fiction with a touch of the supernatural. I can't wait to see where James Nelly will take Donal next!Thank you to the author and the publisher for providing me with a complimentary copy via NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased review.

I was starting to think that a lowly cop never features in a book .....DC Lynch has to juggle several personal issues, like the issues with his parents, his murderer ex-girlfriend Eve and trying to be considered an efficient and grownup detective. When he and his colleague find the body of a young woman, he goes boots and all into the investigation thereof to try and find the killer.DC Lynch has a very fine sense of humour and that kept the pace of the book even more interesting. The book was well written, and I thorougly enjoyed it.

By avid reader This was a fantastic read from an author I hope we'll hear more from! At times it had me laughing aloud, but it was also very suspenseful with a dash of the supernatural (maybe). I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely check out anything new by this author, I hope he makes Donal into a series.

An Intelligent Spy Thriller By Marta Cheng The difference between Joseph D’Antoni’s spy thriller, Rogue Asset, and others in the same genre is that his book is one that is founded on intelligence rather than copious amounts of action. Don’t get me wrong – there’s certainly enough action in the book but the author’s protagonist remains grounded in reality, having to use his powers of deductive reasoning in order to figure things out. The main character, Wade Hanna, isn’t your typical seasoned spy – quite the opposite, in fact. During a surveillance exercise, Wade and his four-member team are tasked to track an experienced operative, Emily, in Bridgeport, Virginia but things don’t exactly go according to plan as the operative quickly shakes two members of their detail before outsmarting Wade and his surveillance partner. While Wade is green in experience, he’s got good instincts and those instincts are soon put to the test as he accepts a difficult assignment in Tangier. The author is a forensic and economics expert whose clients have included the FBI, Department of Justice, intelligence agencies and some of the largest law firms in the country. As such, the author’s prose is laced with authenticity and authority, keeping the reader engaged although there’s certainly enough action to keep things from becoming too analytical. Wade is a rookie agent with much to prove and Rogue Asset will have readers rooting for him as he’s forced to match wits with a rogue asset who refuses to let anything – or anyone – stand in its way.

The book starts with the basics of the minor and major pentatonic scales and then takes you through all sorts of interesting and exotic scales. He also features a scale by one of the best and most under radar Blues-Jazz guitarists, Robben Ford. One of the great things about books like this is getting the scales under your fingers and then finding interesting (diatonic) chords within the scale. You can use this approach to breath new life into any established genre. Example: I'm working on a Blues song using the Iwato scale. This is great book for breaking out of the standard pentatonic box and getting really creative with your soloing and writing.

I'm not very disciplined when it comes to practice and I find these books great for working through at my own pace. I'll work through to a point and then stay there for a few weeks just playing and practicing on the couch in front of the TV, then BAM! something will click into place and make sense in a new way, then I'll go back to the books and work through a bit more. I love the clarity of the writing and the audio to back up anything I'm not sure of. Thanks Joseph.

Peterson I bought this as a gift for a friend, who follows Simon's work and has been primarily self-taught. Simon's style is accessible and clear, but not overly simplified, nor does it leave you wishing there was a "Book Two" after the first week. Technically proficient, this book bridges the gap between the science of sound, and just hearing what you like. Perfect for anyone looking to branch out into a new sound, or brush up on proper technique.
