Scorched Earth, Alien Wonders is a futuristic, light-hearted, eco-adventure about hope, betrayal, love and enlightenment told from a non-human perspective. It asks the question: Can any evolved, intelligent race ever claim to be free of greed, cruelty and corruption? At its core, the book has a powerful message on environmental responsibility and wildlife stewardship. One of the main antagonists is the over-heated, unstable Earth itself. The journey is narrated by Captain Stanley Memphis, who leads a small group of aliens masquerading as pintsized earth critters and a bot-shifter as they embark on a mission to study how humans treat lesser beings in anticipation of man’s expansion into space, which is how morality is judged in their galaxy. But the routine assignment soon turns into more than alien interest in who might be living next door. This cross-genre, Sci-Fi, story will appeal to animal lovers, science geeks, pop culture fans, and hopeless romantics of all ages.

I have started and quickly lost interest in quite a few books in the past year but that was absolutely not the case with this one. I was honestly riveted to the story line and what was going to happen next. It covers some of my favorite subjects like prairie dogs, the state of our environment and the future of our planet while referencing current issues and happenings and still manages to be funny, thought provoking and entertaining all at the same time. I loved that I was able to visualize all the unique characters but my personal favorite is that of all the town-folk enjoying Alvin and the Chipmunks vs Garfield as one of the numerous films that they love to watch in a future world that is vastly different. If it's possible to make a statement about the consequences of our actions on the environment, wildlife and our future and wrap it in a thoroughly entertaining package than Delilah Jean Williams has done just that.

A great read, highly recommended By tobin This book is entertaining from beginning to end and has an important message about the importance of protecting our environment and all the animals that depend on it. Touches of humor bring the alien Prairie Dogs to life and let the reader see the world from their more objective view. It's a great read and will leave you thinking at the end, which is what all good literature should do. I highly recommend this book.

"Scorched Earth, Alien Wonders" is a remarkably original and innovative story (Hollywood should take note!) that combines science fiction with fantasy and ecology. Earth is a dying planet suffering from severe climate change and depletion of its resources. Humans have colonized Mars in an effort to survive. An extra-galactic alien race that has mastered shape shifting is on a research expedition to Earth and ultimately enables the planet to start reviving. The story is charmingly told through the eyes of the aliens morphed into prairie dogs to interact with one of the last surviving PD colonies on Earth. The reader is treated to a well paced story line with a clever mix of intrigue, betrayal, corporate greed, humor and unique plot twists that both entertain and educate about the benefits of eco friendly human and animal coexistence and cooperation. The reader will also come away with an appreciation of wildlife exemplified by the prairie dog as a keystone species and why they are so important to thriving ecosystems. The reader will also likely identify with the carefully woven references to modern Hollywood entertainment TV series and movies. This book has it all!
