I love Kindle, and I love Terry Gilliam, but I would definitely recommend buying the hardcover version of the book. When you see the book itself, you realize the layout and graphics are beautifully put together, whereas you lose 50% of the beauty of the design in the Kindle version. Additionally, the Kindle version is riddled with typographic errors, which is a big disappointment considering how meticulous Gilliam has always been about details. If you are a fan of Terry, spend the extra money and purchase the hardcover version instead.

Discounting his heralding the addition of "Under God," as High School President - I was the only dissident voter, and pissed everybody off in Student Council (even then, I believed it was a geopolitical if not spiritual assumption, as I do, even more, and right now) - he was a breezy President.We were friends. From his memoir, I was evidently one of the first Jews he'd met. I was never aware of that, until reading Gilliamesque. Had I known, at the time, I would have seriously considered using him for a Passover matzoh, which as you know is a fabled Jewish rite in which we annually slaughter a Gentile babe for our darkly religious festivals. Terry would have brought a great leavening to the occult procedure.He would have made an amazing matzoh.Instead, he made amazing films: as richly out-of-control as his imagination, ideas bursting in every frame, doing to our eyes what Bunuel had done nearly a century earlier, at the beginning of his own golden age.Several years ago, a producer complained to me how Terry was impossible to work with; how he was so demanding; how he kept changing his mind about shots and settings. I nodded, smiled, and said, "Yes, and for that we can't give him medals enough."T. Vance Gilliam is an international treasure.Live with it.

By Bob Fun autobiography to read on a weekend trip, reads very quick without dwelling on any period in his life too long at all. I'd suggest getting the hardback for all the great pictures you'd expect from the animator of Monty Python.Terry doesn't sling mud about people and honestly concedes his own faults and insecurities during his career. He comes off as a fun brilliant man who enjoys telling us about how his life and career were shaped by his life's interesting journey and those he's known. You'll wish you could have led his life as he name drops everyone from George Harrison to more than a few pages of name dropping in the back of the book!I would have enjoyed more tidbits about the makings of M.P. episodes and all his films. Perhaps more of a Director's Edition of film facts is what I was hoping to read, but it's his story to tell and I enjoyed every page.
