Norbury Engaging, super-fast pacing (I read it in a day in two sittings), interesting read, timely topic but not over-the-top preachy about the subject of illegal whaling. Good goal for the MC and her agent partner. Sufficiently sinister bad guy. Exotic setting (if coastal Norway seems exotic to you. It does to me.) Style is light and breezy. Dialogue true-to-life real and believable for each character. What's not to like?An excellent read and a good sequel to the author's first book in the series. Only a slight negative for using too much hard-to-decipher dialogue for the Irish cook, Dylan. Figuring out what he was saying briefly took me out of the story. One other slight negative was enough mentions of coffee to make me think of Stieg Larsson's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." In that book, it seems like the characters were drinking coffee about every other page. In Poppy McVie, not nearly as much, but enough that I noticed. Maybe that's where she gets her non-stop energy. ;-)But highly recommended nonetheless. If you like cozy-style mystery/adventure/law enforcement reads, this one is well worth the money and time.

By Pamela Beason Poppy McVie is such a gutsy character--I love her dedication to braving danger to save wildlife. This story takes place in Norway, so with this book a reader gets an exciting outdoor adventure with Poppy's hunky partner thrown in to rev up the action, and a trip to Scandinavia as well! I've seen magnificent orcas in the wild, so I could really identify with Poppy's determination to nail the criminal who wants to capture them for show. As the author of eco-mysteries such as Endangered (A Sam Westin Mystery Book 1), I'm excited to find Kimberli A. Bindschatel. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Action sequences verge on perfection By Erin Fanning In a continuation of the Poppy McVie mysteries, author Kimberli Bindschatel has once again combined humor, intrigue, and an always-entertaining heroine into an endless adventure through the black-market world of killer-whale hunting. Action sequences verge on perfection, taking the reader from clifftop paragliding to sailing among choppy Norwegian waters, and the edgy romance between Poppy and her partner Dalton continues with many tension-filled scenes. The story ends with the promise of another mystery in the works, and I'm looking very forward to reading it!
