A great story filled with interesting characters in a fascinating world By Nicole A great story filled with interesting characters in a fascinating world. It's fairly well-written, though there were a lot of things told through reminiscing/flashback. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but there was an abundance of it and occasionally it would throw me out of the story for a few seconds. I was always hooked right back in, though, because I wanted to know more regardless. Also, I loved that the POV character was a sea monster. Definitely worth a read if you're looking for a high seas fantasy that stands out from the crowd!

Powerful fantasy fiction By From Ohio I thoroughly enjoyed the story - the details are so carefully placed and well done that you learn so much about the characters in such a short space. Still, it doesn't feel overwhelming, just interesting.I can't say I've ever read anything like this, either. Pirates, seamonsters, witches - but all in ways that subverted my general expectations. If you enjoy slightly dark fantasy, Sonja Natasha's Sea Monster Daughters is definitely worth a read, and it's a strong start to their work.

With a solid grasp and skillful use of the English language, Sonja fills this novella with small, colorful details that bring the story to life. "Sea Monster Daughters" brings you just a sliver of the larger parts of this world, both below and above water level, and leaves you satisfied yet wanting so much more, much like the main characters of this piece.
