In a world darkened by volcanic ash, America watched in horror as a coordinated terrorist attack destroyed three of its nuclear generating facilities. One of those plants was the Enrico Fermi power station, which operated on the busy waterfront south of Detroit, Michigan. This stand-alone novel follows several converging storylines that center on Daniel Moore and covers a decade of his tragic life. Trapped between worlds, Daniel and his young family are left to deal with the aftermath of his late father’s brutality and the corrupt leadership of the near-by boomtown. Used as a staging area to support the nuclear clean-up efforts taking place to the south, the Council members of the reorganized city of New Warren, who were being provided with fuel and supplies by the remnants of the Federal Government, controlled the immediate area with an iron fist. When the years of steady growth suddenly come to an end, and the gravy train pulls out for a second time, a fate that many thought had been avoided reveals that it had only been postponed. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Looking Back. By Luciana Selva Thoroughly enjoyed this real world post apocalyptic tale. Daniel was both believable and relatable. The story ran the entire gambit of emotions and I would recommend this book to anyone. A refreshing break from other exaggerated over the top books in this genre.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Excellent storyline with believable characters By mike Excellent storyline with believable characters. I particularly liked the realism and the departure from the "lucky I packed this object" boiler plate that you see in so many novels in this genre. Great book, and I look forward to more from this author.

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Story has promise By Jennifer Krimian This story shows promise. I was completely sucked in to trials of the characters. I loved the fact that it was set in Warren Michigan and being familiar with the area, I was able to picture the events happening. There were a few editing errors, but they were easy to overlook to continue the story. I would love to find out what is next for Daniel. Good job Wade.
